Kia India is all set to launch the all-electric EV6 crossover in the country. However, prior to the official launch, the brochure of the EV6 has been leaked online which provides a plethora of information regarding the upcoming crossover. Kia EV6 is built on the brand’s new dedicated E-GMP EV platform. The bookings will start from May 26, 2022 while it will be sold in limited numbers in the Indian market. The all-electric Kia EV6, after going on sale, will rival the likes of Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV in India.
Measuring 4695 mm in length, 1890 mm in width and 1550 mm in height, Kia EV6 will come with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The leaked brochure further reveals that it will be introduced in five exterior color options namely Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl and Yacht Blue. As for features, the crossover will come equipped with 19-inch crystal cut alloy wheels, Wide electric sunroof, 64 Color ambient mood lighting, Black suede seats with vegan leather bolsters, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 10-way adjustable front seats, Dual-zone automatic climate control, Multi drive modes (Normal/Eco/Sport) Smartphone wireless charging, and a 12.3-inch curved touchscreen infotainment system with Kia Connect and 60+ Connected Car Features.
The GT Line trim will boast of Augmented Reality heads-up display, powered tailgate, automatic flush-fitting door handles and a Meridian sound system with 14 speakers as standard. The safety features onboard will be 8 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assistant System, Electronic Stability Control, Emergency Stop Signal, Multi Collision Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist. Moreover, ADAS will also be offered with the crossover which comprises of Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Blind-spot Detection with Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear-cross Traffic Alert, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality.
The India-spec Kia EV6 will be powered by a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery which will return an outstanding range of 528 kms (WLTP cycle). The battery is compatible with ultra-fast charging through which 100 kms of range can be added in merely 4.5 minutes. It can be fast charged from 0-80 percent in just 18 minutes by using a 350 kW fast charger. The battery can be charged upto 80 percent from standstill in 73 minutes with the help of the conventional 50kW charger. Reports have suggested that the EV6 could be introduced in both single motor RWD and dual motor AWD variants. The former develops top power of 225 bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm while the latter will churn out 321 bhp and 605 Nm. The 0-100kmph sprint time is pegged at 3.5 seconds.
